The setting for all these activities is the 1600-hectares (4000-acres) that the Trust cares for at Brancaster in north Norfolk, an important habitat for thousands of shorebirds, as well as mammals like grey and common seals. The centre's courses and programmes allow students to explore coastal habitats and woodland ecosystems, along with other geographical, historical and scientific topics. There are also cycling, kayaking, sailing, orienteering and team-building challenges, all led by qualified and experienced instructors.
Environmentally friendly
With many of the centre's courses focussing on the natural world and the environmental impact of the way we live, it's important that the building itself plays a part. Rather than build something from scratch, the Trust renovated Dial House at Brancaster harbour - in itself a kind of recycling - incorporating the latest renewable energy technology.
