The National Trust has functioned effectively as a conservation organisation since 1895. In the 21st century, a major focus of the Trust's research and planning activities is in the area of land use and management. On the Environment section of the Trust's website, you will find a huge range of papers and policy documents relating to all areas of land management: agriculture, woodland and forestry, coastline, soil and common land, to name but a few.
